Christian Historical Romance Novels I Love
What do you get when you mix stories from the past with elements of faith and sizzling romance? My favorite genre, Christian historical romance! These are the authors who captivated me with their stories and triggered my own decision to write. Whether its a prairie schoolhouse, a Nashville Thoroughbred farm or the streets of early twentieth century Boston, I have spent countless hours lost in their story worlds. These authors have tickled my funny bone, challenged my faith and given this romantic heart a sigh-worthy ending. Not bad for a few hours cuddled on the couch!

Julie Lessman—This wonderful author made my Hall of Fame list with the first book in her Daughters of Boston Series, A Passion Most Pure. If the cover alone doesn’t want to make you pick up this book, I don’t know what else to say to persuade you. The entire series is worthy of your time along with the Winds of Change which follows the remainders of the O’Conners as they embrace their faith and find true love. A Light in the Window, is the prequel to the Daughters of Boston series.
Tamera Alexander—I absolutely adore her rich, vivid descriptions. To Whisper Her Name is set in the luxurious Belle Meade mansion in Nashville and is the first book in the Belle Meade Plantation series. Her website offers discussion questions for book clubs for most of her titles! While I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read by this author, other notable titles are The Inheritance and From a Distance, the first in the Timber Ridge Reflections series.
Karen Witemeyer—If this author doesn’t leave you chuckling out loud, make a doctor appointment because something is seriously wrong with your sense of humor! With favorite titles including Short-Straw Bride and Stealing the Preacher you know you’re in for a hilarious romantic romp in the past!
Deeanne Gist is one author who really does her homework! Her books have a signature blend of whimsy and romance but are packed with tons of historical details. With so many excellent titles to choose from, you can’t go wrong snuggling up with any of her offerings. My top picks would be The Measure of A Lady, A Bride in the Bargain and A Bride Most Begrudging.
